Updating Note 10.1 2014 edition to Android Kit Kat

This is just a short post because I recently bought a Note 10.1 2014 edition. I booted it up and selected update, nothing showed up. Where's Kit Kat? I shouted to myself. Turns out it either rarely gets distributed to machines in the UK or not at all. I can verify that nexus 7 2013 and Note 2 updated on their own no problemo. So, I traipsed around the net looking for instructions. I found loads on how to update it to stock android but then I found this.

http://www.teamandroid.com/2014/05/20/install-galaxy-note-101-p600-xxucnd3-android-442-firmware/

They have a link to easily download the Samsung official firmware 4.4.2 and a link to download odin. Make sure you read both pages.

Back up your files just in case. In my case they were still there after "phew"

Also, in the download file it only has the one firmware file so install it in the AP box as they tell you and ignore the other boxes, they will only confuse you and there's no files for them. The box will also turn blue, not yellow when connected.

If you need to turn developer rights on to select usb debugging mode go down to about device and poke build number 7 times. The options will reappear, apparently the developer rights confused normal people so they hid it. (As an example, a person from work bough an s3 mini and had a heart attack when he saw the machine using RAM. He reformatted the phone because he didn't know what it was doing. I promptly told him to stop looking at it)

The file is safe and I just tested my wifi, it's now picking up a 100% signal. Before it showed 10meg to less. Now it's 99mbps. Now I can screen cast and everything's perfect. So, if you're still waiting or bought a new one, take the leap, it's a small one.
