The aim of 'Revolution' for 'The Serpent's Curse' was $400 000. All those whom pledged over at kickstarter achieved the goal within the first 2 weeks. Then Rev team rolled out their increased targets. The dream, as it were. The end goal was $800 000 with the potential of greenlighting Beneath a Steel Sky 2 if it got to 1 million. This never quite happened as kickstarter pledges and paypal pledges amount to just short of $820 000.
The good news? Revolution will now have to bring back characters like Pearl and Duane (are they really under cover operatives?) and the Goat. The goat that now has it's own page, t-shirt, memory stick. 15000 people out there now have goat fever.
Being part of the kickstarter for the last 4 weeks has been phenomenal. Unlike Double Fine that achieved it's goal within a few hours and then kept increasing, and unlike Pinkerton Road which struggled past its' goal to a decent 500 000, I kept an eye on broken sword continuously. The 15000 people who pledged kept gradually pouring what money they could into the project. You could see and feel the effort we were putting in and I'm sure I wasn't alone watching those last 5 seconds count down on the kickstarter page.
It has been a fantastic experience to be part of and I look forward to seeing my name along with the 500 others who are now Knights of the Broken Sword, in the credits.
Well done Revolution. Well done Cecil.
Vive le Revolution!
